The leaves, mostly likely representing oak, are particularly well-fashioned on this little jewel, and the four rods holding the shade up are hammered, as is the base. Hours and hours of hard work!!

The shade is by the Rethondes company, an esteemed French art glass maker. There are small chips galore on the opening where it attaches to the socket, but the shade still sits level firmly and nicely, and of course these are not visible to the eye when mounted.

Lovely colors of yellow-orange, and blue-purple up at the top, all evocative of a French sunrise or sunset.

The patina of the base is original and enhanced by an ebony paste wax.

Rewired, for use with a bayonet-mounting bulb (easily available on the web). Why not use the original French socket, which surpasses in quality anything that might be used to replace it?
There's a hi-lo switch on the wire about 6 inches from the base. On-off-hi-lo.

Dimensions: 13 1/2 inches tall, about 5 3/4 across the base. See less
