Sarab is famous for its rugs. From 1747 to 1813, it was the capital of the Sarab region, located in North West Persia.. The rugs of Sarab, which are also classified among those known as Heriz, have light, rather bright colour schemes. The usual adjective for "of Sarab" would be "Sarab-i", this changed to "Serapi". In 1876, about the time that Sarabi rugs were coming on the market in England, the Prince of Wales made a trip to India on the H.M.S. Serapis. The similarity of the names led to the form "Serapi" for the rugs.
This rare runner displays rows of large stylized paisley within camel hair border accented by nomadic motifs on the outer border.
