Chinese Yangzhi Kuan Yin scroll, a fine printed rubbing in black ink of a standing Kuan Yin, mounted on shimmering, … Read more Chinese Yangzhi Kuan Yin scroll, a fine printed rubbing in black ink of a standing Kuan Yin, mounted on shimmering, white silk, with a flat braided, bronze, silk makio and a green, cord kakeo at the top and hongmu jikusaki at the bottom. The scroll comes with a finely made, presentation box covered in a silk brocade of shimmering, gold, silver, copper and black colors in a quatrefoil lattice pattern with a metal, gold on black, title plate. The interior of the presentation box is done in padded gold silk with two gold silk storage ribbons and includes a bronze hanger, an information pamphlet from the Zhoushan Sanhe Business Co. ltd. and a certificate from the China National Silk Museum. The silver characters on the interior of the lid repeat those of the title plate on the exterior. Made in 1998, limited to 3000 copies.

Kuan Yin is standing barefoot on two lotus pads, wearing the Crown of Amitabha, and clad in ornate jewelry and loose, flowing robes, holding the willow branch in her right hand and a bowl of the Water of Life in her left.

Yangzhi Kuan Yin: name of a stone tablet in the Yangzhi nunnery on Mount Putuo, one of the Four Sacred Mountains of Chinese Buddhism. The original image was painted by Yan Liben in the early Tang Dynasty, this image was later carved onto a stone tablet in 1587, then recarved in 1608 by a famous carver from Hanzhou, Sun Liang.
