A stunning large vintage First Edition full-color print after portrait of Elvire (1919) by Amedeo Modigliani. Comes from a First Limited Edition art folio, published in Geneva, Switzerland by Albert Skira in the 1940s. Printed on one side of heavy paper. Numbered in the lower right corner. Very detailed. Colors are beautiful. Excellent condition - never framed.

Those who were privileged to watch Modigliani at work could never forget the supple dexterity of his hand, slow but sure and deft, as his inspired linework took form on the canvas. For him, as for so many others, once the picture was drawn it was as good as finished. We see this here and admire the delightfully distorted curves of the shoulders, and the ease with which he subtly breathed new life into the model.
