This is a 1960s art print by David Shepherd titled "Elephants at Amboseli". It is a print mounted to board and varnished with a gel finish to give it texture as if it was an original oil painting. It is well preserved and maintains its sage green landscape hues and deep elephant greys.
The frame and mat are in excellent condition and hangs with a wire back. By sticker on the frame in the back I suspect this print was framed newly in the last 15 or so years.
David Shepherd (1931–2017) was a British artist known for his detailed wildlife and landscape paintings. A passionate conservationist, he used his art to raise awareness and funds for endangered species, particularly African elephants and big cats. His work combined realism with a deep love for nature, making him one of the most celebrated wildlife artists of his time.
