Chinese seven fairies scroll, finely painted in colored inks on silk, mounted on a tan and Ji of shimmering, light golds, silk brocade in a floral vines and fenghuangs pattern, and a nakamawashi of shimmering, light and dark golds, silk brocade in a flower pattern. An apocryphal signature by Yun Bing, in black zhuanshu script is at the lower right of the image . The scroll has violet, silk makio and kakio at the top and blue and white, porcelain jikusaki with a Shou character on their ends and decorated with a band of leafy lappets on their necks. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
The image size is 21.125" wide x 38" high. The depth of 1.25" is the diameter of the porcelain
jikusaki.
A finely painted and detailed, depiction of the seven fairies (the seven daughters of Jade Emperor and Queen Mother of the West), looking down on the earth from a heavenly bridge amid polychrome clouds.
Yun Bing: Yun Bing was a Chinese painter during the Qianlong era. She is well known for her bird-and-flower paintings executing the "boneless" technique, and became the most famed of the Yun family's female artists.
