The … Read more Brass candlestick lamp with gold braided tassel, and lined pleated, silk shade custom made from Colefax & Fowler fabric. The shade was purchased from Ann’s of Kensington which holds a Royal Warrant. The Royal Warrant of Appointment is granted as a mark of recognition to people or companies who have regularly supplied goods or services to the Royal Household. The history of the Royal Warrant dates back to medieval times, when competition for Royal favor was fierce and the Monarch had the pick of the country’s best tradespeople. By the 15th century, the Lord Chamberlain, as head of the Royal Household, formally appointed tradespeople with a Royal Warrant of Appointment – a practice that continues to this day. In the 18th century, Royal tradesmen began displaying the Royal Arms on their premises. See less
