Four elegantly turned and tapered walnut legs support … Read more Coffee table attributable to the workshop of Giuseppe Colombo known as Mortarino. Four elegantly turned and tapered walnut legs support a high band with drawer, subtended by shelves with inlaid rosette; the entire surface is veneered in walnut and enriched with bois de rose threads with boxwood inlays, on the quadripartite walnut top there is an inlaid rosette with a panoply of musical instruments and a sheet of music. A secret spring behind the drawer releases the latch that allows the top to turn and open; in the center of the double floor there is another rose window inlaid with military panoply. Interior in fir, the piece of furniture bears an old label from the antique dealer 'A.G.G. Subert' The color of the wood, the type of threading and the panoplies so elegantly worked with burin embroidery present close similarities with the two dressers of Palazzo d'Arcò and with the flap with the arms of the Barbiano di Belgioioso. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
