Biography:
"Jean Donnell studied art under the tutelage of Derek Senior, then of Luis Eades, in Honduras, where she lived for many years. Atmosphere, color, and beauty of environment, influenced her palette. She continued her studies in the United States, and is active in the art world of Florida and Honduras, painting both Spanish America and Southern Florida. She belongs to the Miami Watercolor Society, and the Miami Art League. Best known for her fresh, fluent watercolors, she is represented in private and public collections here and abroad of which the Honduras National Library in Central America has the largest collection. “El Dia” of Honduras says of her work: “Mrs. Donnell’s watercolors, with their splendidly pliable brush strokes, give the fabric of her art both a sweeping design and a delicate tracery of selected detail…” Of her one-woman shows in Honduras, an art review said: “She paints with enthusiasm for her metier and creates stirring paintings which both satisfy and enthrall…” and one of the Latin American critics says that “she makes no compromise with visual reality and fits her subjects to careful thought and pattern.” Her work has been represented in galleries in Honduras and at present in Grove Group Gallery, Coconut Grove, Florida, and in the Honduran National Library. She has had a number of one-woman shows in Florida and Honduras. Jean has won a number of ribbons and awards both in watercolors and in oils. At present she is devoting her time to painting and teaching art."
