Antique pair of Tokanabe stoneware or pottery vases or candleholders. They appear to have been used as candle holders. They would hold large candles. These are marked made in Nippon, which makes dating them easy, since items exported from Japan had to be marked Nippon starting in 1891 and the word Nippon was banned from exports in 1921. No chips or cracks detected. Some possible wax residue. They are very elegant and would look great in any style home. Lovely texture.
