for the unique & unusual. Statement, artistic vase by Florida artist Leland Shaw (1940-2015).
Add a touch of subtle whimsy.
Stunning as a sculpture or functional art vase. Monochromatic allure with matte charcoal on glazed black. Textures that almost look like nodules from afar but as you drift closer you see the protrusions are sliced rhino and oh-so detailed. Streamed across an organic etched swirl backdrop.
Textures. Textures.
Known for his mythic narrative pottery containing "cultural references with a sly personal wink." -Legacy obituary.
Shaw's ceramics are true works of art.
Vase bottom is signed, though no date. Estimated 70-80s.
Size: approx 7" diameter at the wider base with approx a 4" diameter opening at the top

My major architectural interests have been in the teaching of Design (at all levels of the program), Environment and Behavioral Research of Children's Play Environments, and the Design and Construction of Play Environments for Disabled Children, I am also a ceramic artist represented by several art galleries in Florida. Currently I teach Design and Environment and Behavior Research and am a graduate advisor. I also act as liaison to the professional visiting architectural firms and fundraising. An ongoing activity is a manuscript preliminarily entitled The Architecture of California Wineries; from Mission to Postmodern and Beyond."
