Many of his existing concepts, ideas, writings and visualizations were realized … Read more John Carnright (1945-2023) was a unique and multitalented artist. Many of his existing concepts, ideas, writings and visualizations were realized in completed paintings, as well as in his massive and impressive wood/stone sculptures. His art and writings appeared in hundreds of galleries and museums, in national and international arenas including Paris, Cologne, Budapest, Vienna, Linz, Mira Flores, among others. During High School, Carnright established himself as a gifted writer /poet within the Beat Movement. By the1980’s he was a well-known gallery artist in the prominent Avant Garde, Los Angeles, Kirk deGooyer Gallery. Described by many, as "a restless spirit, he was always expanding on his creative endeavors". His main body of work incorporated a vast array of futuristic and primal imagery that created a world not yet seen.

In this particular oil painting you can find the same expansive and celestial feel that you would expect from the play of sun /moon or concentric circles above earth. This was a recurrent theme in a lot of Carnright's work. In this particular work the mix of colors is truly spiritual! And cause for celebration. In addition to his gift for color, he was a very philosophical artist who was always grappling with deeper issues; i.e., man's relationship with his/her environment and with 'psychological evolutionary forces", "rites of passage", "rituals of change" that frequently, exposed and connected our ancestral past, present and future. He was a man ahead of his time, and a wonderful artist to add to any collection. Unfortunately this particular work is unsigned. I was told he didn't sign unless he was sure he would never touch it again.

His impressive body of work was widely collected by Corporations and Private Collectors. Aside from travelling the globe, by the 1990’s Carnright was busy working on an impressive sci-fi adventure novel, it was published under the title Aria Hahn.
