Signed MCM 1960's Culver green "Valencia" 22k trimmed highball glasses (6) with ice bucket, tongs, and brass cart shaped caddy. Comes with matching Culver shot glass set of six in a brass caddy with mahogany handles.
The condition of the highball glasses is perfect, as if they weren't used very often.
However, there is some slight wear on the gold trim of a couple of the shot glasses. I have taken a photo showing the difference between the slightly worn shot glass and the unworn shot glass.
When they are in the caddy the difference is nearly imperceptible. The brass caddy for the highball glasses has a few minor scrapes.
Culver Ltd. was founded in the 1930s in Brooklyn, New York, and became well-known for its high-end decorative glassware. The company gained prominence in the 1950s and 1960s, when it developed a unique fire-on 22-karat gold application process, setting its products apart from other glassmakers of the era.
Culver’s designs were opulent and intricate, featuring motifs like scrolls, filigree, and lattice patterns, often accented with colored enamels or gemstones. These glasses were seen as symbols of luxury and sophistication, making them highly desirable in mid-century cocktail culture.
The Valencia Pattern (1960s)
One of Culver’s most iconic designs, Valencia, was introduced in the 1960s and became one of the brand’s best-selling patterns. It features:
• Elaborate gold filigree in a Moroccan or Spanish lattice style
• Green diamond-shaped accents or medallions
• A textured, raised design that gives it a three-dimensional effect
The gold decoration was hand-applied and heat-treated to bond permanently to the glass, ensuring durability and a luxurious look.
This is a rare, complete and stunning set of barware, ready to entertain your guests in style!
