Alice Elizabeth Sprink Peterson(1879-1961). Alice was born in Davenport Iowa on March 28th 1879. Alice studied at the Pratt Institute in New York prior to her marriage to Claus Peterson in 1903. The couple then moved to Southern California and settled into a quaint home in the hills of California. A studio was built in the rear of the property where Alice painted, did copper work, and made her own frames. She studied for many years under Orrin White, and under his tutelage, became a competent landscape painter. His influence is seen in her work. She died in Hollywood in March 15, 1961.
