American in Origin … Read more This Really is a Great Looking, Very Rare & Hard to Find Model Antique Cast Iron Doorstop. American in Origin - Circa 1920s. It was Made by The National Foundry in Whitman Massachusetts. It is Identified on Page 32 of "The Doorstop Book" with a Photo of the Original 1920s National Foundry Ordering Catalog - Page 6 as a Model 131 "Sleeping Cat". Note that The Doorstop Book Does Not Even Have a Photographed Example or an Approx Price Value Range of This Particular Doorstop. Another Interesting Note is That The National Foundry Only Produced and Offered for Sale "GREY IRON" Doorstops. They Actually Marketed Their Doorstops with Tips and Instructions as to How to Paint - Decorated Them. They Were Sold to Customers - Typically Retail Establishments at a Inexpensive Price so that They Could be Painted and Sold For a Profit. It is in Excellent All Original Condition - Displays Beautifully. Guaranteed to be Original - Vintage as Stated.
