A set of 4 hand painted plates that appear to be Chinese export. Could be Japanese, but unlikely. Each is signed to the backside with a variation of the word "blessing". The plates feature a center medallion and a generous application of what appears to be 18kt gold trim. Each plate has a diameter of 8 1/4". The estimated age is late 19th or early 20th century.
These are antique plates with wear commensurate with age and use. One plate has a hairline crack as shown in the last few photos. Areas of old and coloration loss to each plate. One plate has a scratch to the center medallion. Another has significant amount of gold loss to the center medallion. The gold around the perimeter of each plate is largely intact.
