The retro-futuristic Ovalia Egg Chair from 1968 comes from the Danish designer Henrik Thor-Larsen.
The Ovalia Egg Chair is probably best known for its use in the Men in Black films, but was designed thirty years earlier by Henrik Thor-Larsen.
"Ovalia is a classic furniture design," says the product's official website. "A chair with a lot of character."
The design consists of an egg-shaped, reinforced fiberglass shell, painted glossy white, with part of the front removed. Colorful upholstery surrounds the small interior space, and additional matching padded cushions are attached to the seat and backrest.
The fabric is available in more than twenty shades, while the round base on which the seat rotates is made of painted or polished aluminum.
Ovalia was originally exhibited at the Scandinavian Furniture Fair in 1968 and was sold worldwide for a decade until production ceased in 1978. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
