Crafted in France, circa 1870, the ornate pierced pediment features a swirling foliate acanthus leaf cartouche, flanked with leaf and floral decor on both sides; the rectangular molded frame with extended corners is further embellished with scroll foliage motifs consistent with the decorative richness of the Rococo aesthetic. The Louis XV style mirror is dressed with the original encased mercury glass plate and original wood backing. The wall mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a beautiful and rich parcel gold leaf and painted finish. New wire and hooks in the back for easy installation. Versatile, the wall decor could also be placed over a console in an entry, or in a living room over a mantel. Weight 50 pounds.
