These urns were used on a sideboard to keep water hot to make tea in fashionable English homes in the early 19th century. The urn exhibits typical wear of copper showing through from years of being polished. The original burner is present in the base but it once had some sort of cap to cover the wick when not in use. A portion of the inner rim inside the urn is missing but is not visible when the domed lid is in place. The spigot seems to be frozen shut but could be made operational again. The urn has great impact and would be a beautiful decorative accent to any sideboard. See less
