A large art glass bowl designed by Gianluca and Pierpaolo Seguso in the late 1990ties and manufactured by Seguso Viro. Black glass decorated with multi-colored canes in blues, greens, yellow, oranges and white and a clear glass overlay. The bowl is part of the 101 LIMITED edition where each item is limited to 101 pieces. Marked with Seguso company lable and incised signature 'Seguso Viro Murano 90/101 Boca Chica' on the base.

The Seguso family has been documented as glassmakers in Venice since the 14th century. Seguso Vetri d'Arte was founded in 1933 by several glass masters amoung Archimede, Ernesto and Alberto Seguso. In 1934 Flavio Poli became artistic director and in 1937 partner. In the 1950s and 60s the Sommerso, Valva and Siderale designs of Poli became very successsful. After the retirement of Poli in 1963 Mario Pinzoni took over the artistic direction. After economic difficulties and some name changes the company was liquidated in 1985. Giampaolo Seguso, son of Archimede Seguso, and his sons Gianluca, Pierpaolo and GianAndrea established Seguso Viro in 1993. In 2007 the family was able to buy back the Seguso Vetri d'Arte brand. Today the company still manufactures under its historical name.
