A unique and visually stunning Atomic Modern sculptural diffuser disk table lamp designed very much in the manner of George … Read more A unique and visually stunning Atomic Modern sculptural diffuser disk table lamp designed very much in the manner of George Nelsons iconic "Half Nelson" lamp by Koch & Lowy circa 1950's. This rare rendition is of UK origin and bears many style and high quality manufacturing earmarks of Louis Kalffs' iconic "Z" lamp designs for Philips Laboratories of the same era, hence Philips could have been the manufacturer? The highly sculptural body is comprised of a two part Brass/Black enamel hourglass-like shape that supports an articulating extension bracket suspending the top disk through a full 90° of movement. The adjustment is made easily and securely via a thrumbscrew mechanism at that joint. Originally I am sure this had a specialized reflective dome light bulb of UK standards...that said a typical US candleabra size screw-in appliance bulb seems to do for now - not ideal but it gets the job done stateside. Due to the fact that this was imported to the US who knows when, added the incredible sublime condition of this specimen and your likely to never see one like it again! See less

This rare & unique Saucer Diffuser design lamp is in exceptional original condition as it probably did not get used once in the US due to the UK standard plug it had when I obtained it...it has probably been stored away for about half of a century? No apparent signs of usage wear or blemishes to disk or base aside from some handling/usage marks to the underside of the disk. Original wiring and small screw-in socket has been retrofitted with US two prong plug which works as required, all inspected and tested and appears to be clean, safe and fully operational.
