Fine binding in turquoise leather, minor sunned spine cover, gilt linear design on boards, gilt upper leaf edge, marble endpapers, illustrated with color and black/white plates, book set in the Aldus type of Herman Zapf, printed on Teton Text paper, matched cloth slipcase with leather spine label. Bound at Roswell Bindery of Phoenix by Anson Herrick, 1965. Book designed by Paul Weaver in collaboration with John Anderson. Near fine.
This book was written with the full cooperation of Leon Gaspard who approved the finished text. As the manuscript was being set in type for publication, he suddenly died. It has been thought best to leave the text unaltered, save for a brief mention of his passing, in deference to the warm and vibrant personality who enfused these written and pictorial memories with so much color, joy, and life.
