These vintage green Bülach glass jars, manufactured in Switzerland in the 1940s, are a stunning example of functional yet beautiful design - and these here are especially rare, as those are the jars with the wide opening for preserving whole fruits!
During the Second World War, the white preserving jars of German origin, "Weck", were harder and harder to come by. So "Bülach Glas", a renowned Swiss glass factory founded in the 19th century, started producing these jars as a wartime replacement. They are a part of Swiss history that the older generations still remember vividly.
These large, 1.5 litre jars are meant to store pickles or any dry goods. The vibrant green colour, characteristic of Bülach's mid-century production, adds a decorative touch and helps preserve the contents from sunlight.
Today, these jars are highly sought after by collectors and vintage lovers alike for their timeless charm and utility. Use them for storage, as a decorative accent, or display them as a piece of Swiss craftsmanship that blends practicality with a hint of nostalgia.
