This hand knotted wool antique Persian Malayer hallway runner features an all-over geometric pattern composed of a pole medallion with nomadic village style. The middle hexagonal medallion is filled animal motifs, boteh, roundel rosettes, and a large latch-hook amulet on a dark ink blue backdrop. The central ink blue medallion is flanked with two lozenge pole medallions with stepped edges on either side outlined with latch-hooks used as a protection symbol. Complementary spandrels and ziggurat mounds reach towards the center of the composition. It is enclosed with a repeating hexagonal border in alternating colors flanked by inner and outer running dog guard bands also known as a Vitruvian scroll border.
