Spectacular, extremely rare light green opaline glass vase, with a slight addition of iron oxides, with a downward sloping step … Read more Spectacular, extremely rare light green opaline glass vase, with a slight addition of iron oxides, with a downward sloping step and black glass paste cord applied to the mouth while hot. There is a clear mark from the grinding of the spout leaving the pier (an iron bar attached to the vase used to insert it into and remove it from the furnace during all stages of production) under the base. The vase is unsigned, but we attribute it to the Bohemian manufacturer Loetz. It can certainly be dated to the early decades of the 1900s based on its patina, type of glass, and workmanship, as well as its artistic style, which is undoubtedly Art Deco. The vase is truly beautiful, especially the ruffles sloping downwards in full Deco style. The black glass paste edging is particularly valuable, marking a perfect line around the entire upper edge, which is extremely difficult to achieve by hand.
