This is a magnificent and striking 2 tiered surfboard style Danish Modern sculptural teak coffee table, Circa late 1950s. No makers mark but based on what I’ve seen it is probably Kurt Ostervig for Jason Mobler.
It is in excellent condition, very solid and heavy and well constructed. Rich teak color and very well maintained. I’ve owned it for 25 years and given it regular conditioning with orange oil. It is truly breathtaking and would be an excellent addition to any mid century or eclectic room. I’ve used it as a coffee table as well as a TV stand.
The table top is long and gently tapered on each end (center width is 23.5", and it tapers to 20.75" at either end.) There is a delicate upturned lip on each edge.
The under shelf is perfect for books or knick knacks.
The triangular legs are the most distinctive feature of course, and they are topped with little brass caps. The legs are rounded, sturdy and solid, with a circumference of about 3.875" (see photo)
A couple of small imperfections include a tiny notch in the lip on one edge (pictured.)
The undershelf has an approx. 4” long very narrow split in the veneer (pictured.). Neither imperfection is particularly noticeable, nor detracts from the beauty of this piece.
all of the surfaces are free from any significant scratches (or any scratches that I can see.)
