He was born on July 14th, 1934 … Read more Vintage Robert Cox ( listed artist) Still Life Original Oil Painting "Yellow Roses". He was born on July 14th, 1934 in Mt Holly, New Jersey, Cox studied at the Katharine Gibbs School of Art from 1953 until 1956 and then joined Mayhew Peakes Inc. as a graphic designer. He resigned in 1962 and moved to California, where he married Marjorie Cox in 1966. He developed his own style using his palette knife in an impressionist heavy impasto technique. He found inspiration and a passion for painting the flowers in California. He strongly believed in art for the people and was very prolific in the 1970's and 1980's. He captures the beauty in flowers like very few painters. This would look great in a modern cottage decor, because the paintings are simple and modern in technique, but the detail in the room is beautiful. It would really stand out. See less
