Offered is an early 20th Century, possibly late 19th Century, photograph of Venice's San Polo river/canal and architecture by Domenico Anderson (1854-1938). Domenico Anderson was the eldest son of James Anderson, 1813-1877, a British pioneer photographer who established a studio in Rome, Italy, and passed his passion for photography and studio to Domenico. The medium is albumen silver print, Photographic technique: N silver gelatin dry negative. The image is stamped "22870 - VENEZIA - Rio S. Polo" and "Anderson Roma", their studio. It also states "Ripr. Int.", which we believe stands for Riproduzione Interna, an in house print of this image. This piece is from a series done by Domenico in Venice in 1901. We have had this piece re-matted and re-framed in a vintage teak wood frame.
The frame measures 19.125" wide, 25" long, .75" deep, visible image is 11" x 16.25"
Actual image is 11.3125" x 16.8125"

Previous owner had this framed and had some tape on the rear of the image to secure to paper, we have left that as is to not damage the rear. We've had it reframed and re-matted in a teak wood frame where the matting covers the frayed edge at top, but leaves the blind stamp visible. See detailed images. There is a very small black blemish on the glass near the lower right corner, we've tried to show it in detailed images but it is hard to see. Any wear is commensurate with use. less
