An imposing pair of silvered cast brass antelope sculptures by Dikran Khoubesserian produced by Fondica France. Each signed. 1970s. Very heavy for their size.
Overall good recent vintage condition. Heavy cast brass in a silvered finish. Sporadic wear to the finish on each piece, with a few additional scratches as shown. A small chip to the front edge of one base. The horns affix to the skull with two bolts, the whole affixed to the display base with two additional bolts. The angle of the horns can be changed to suit taste and space. Measurements taken in as shown configuration. Present extremely well and versatile across many styles.
Dikran Khoubesserian (1913-1991), an Armenian born in Turkey, was sent to study in Paris as a young boy. An architect by trade, he began studying sculpture in mid-life, before moving permanently to France in the early 1950s and subsequently focusing full time on sculpture, beginning in the early 1960s.
