This vintage 1970s musical, oak wood jewelry box plays "The Shadow of Your Smile" also known as "Love Theme from The Sandpiper". The tune plays when the lid is lifted to look inside and the music box is wound with the knob attached to the bottom of the box. The box has metal hardware on the outside resembling 4 door knockers, 2 top lid hinges and the top of the lid is made from cane material which is completely intact and not broken like some cane tends to be after all these years. The wood has some surface wear and could be refinished. The metal hardware and hinges are in good condition, the interior ribbed, gold, velvet-like material lining is intact, but may be a little dusty and could use a vacuum. The music mechanism works, though slowly, mechanism may need a tune-up. The mechanism is housed in the right hand portion inside the box and there is another small compartment under it to keep smaller items. The item comes direct from Japan while traveling through the Far East back in the 1970s. The jewel box is in overall good, used condition. Stored in a cool dry place. Comes from a smoke-free/pet-free home.
