An oval panel is suspended between the shoulders of the ring on a swivel, allowing it to be worn with either side up. Classic niello work is similar to enameling, but a more complex process, and the result is a dark gray matte finish. The figures on the ring are intricately rendered, and the shoulders of the ring are delicately etched. The figures seen here are taken from the epic legend Ramakien, and represent Mekkala, the goddess of lightning, and Ramasoon, the god of thunder, who were lovers. Rings in this style are rare, and flip rings even more so -- I've never encountered another one like this. It is truly special. Perhaps perfect for that special person?
