An exquisitely preserved set of mid-20th century wooden kitchen canisters. Made in Japan in 1976 for Sears Roebuck & Co., these attractive canisters are dark walnut color and feature dovetail joinery and a decoratively carved front panel fastened with small brass finishing nails. Each box has an interior fitted hard plastic lining allowing for food storage, and the four-piece set easily nests when not in use.
Although originally designed for use in the kitchen, what is especially attractive about these boxes is that they don't have to be used there. The wood design of these boxes make them a good choice for storage in just about any room, including for example, a bathroom, laundry, pantry, gardening or mudroom. They can be used without the plastic liners for a purely decorative look.
These boxes are in fantastic vintage condition with only minor, age-appropriate signs of use. The largest box measures 7” x 6.5” x 7.5'. The smallest box measures 4.5” x 3.5” x 4.5”.
