Craftsmanship is demonstrated in the intricate inlaid parquetry checkerboard design table top and beautifully pedestal base. The circle shaped top allows for ease of movement around the table when walking but also gives the greatest amount of space for placing objects and drinks. The base is exquisitely hand carved from solid red oak and provides a very sturdy and attractive centerpiece. A G.L.R. Corp. Extensible Support Apparatus enables the table to have an infinite number of height adjustments. (Note: I have looked at the patent and this mechanism is pretty remarkable.) The table top construction involved gluing together five 5/16” by 5 ¾” wood slats and then assembling them into 37 squares with an alternating pattern and 8 triangles surrounded by eight 1” thick rounded banding. The work is flawless. It is hard to imagine how much skill and time that went into producing this piece.
