Toluca, Mexico.- The sculptor Fernando Cano Cardozo has transcended. He passed away in 2018.
Born in the town of El Oro, State of Mexico on May 29, 1939, Fernando Cano was a tireless creator who approached the wrought iron technique with a particular style, mainly in large-format or monumental pieces.

Fernando Cano , the man of dreams in steel, brought wonder and tenderness back to university halls. His large works are monumental in size.
Fernando Cano, throughout his life, was awarded many distinctions, among them, he was awarded twice by the government of the State of Mexico: in 1992, he received the “León Guzmán” award for teaching merit and in 2005, the “Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz” Award in the category of Arts and Letters, for his career and great talent; for his contributions to the art and culture of the State of Mexico.

The town where he was born named him its favorite son and named a small square in his honor back in 2011. His emblematic works are found in the gardens of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, an institution that awarded him an honorary doctorate on December 10, 2013 and also established the “Fernando Cano” University Gallery in the historic Rector’s building.
