This authentic set of four (4) early 18th century original chiaroscuro woodcuts (c.1708) is after the original drawings by Hubert Goltzius. (Dutch, 1526–1583). They depicts Roman emperors. On the reverse of each is a description in Latin. Published in Antwerp, Belgium in 1708. These prints are rare and it is difficult to acquire sets of more than 3 or 4 of these woodcuts. Most retail prices range between $200-$350 each. When I fist saw some of them years ago at the Cincinnati Art Museum I loved them! Dimensions: Apprx. . 9" x 10.5" plus folds at top and bottom of sheet (each fold apprx. 1") ; each medallion apprx. 7" diameter. Please see our other listings from this series.
