A striking pair of Art Deco style polished steel and brass andirons, designed by Danny Alessandro and sold through Holly Hunt, circa 1984. The meticulously crafted and very luxurious andirons feature a modernist, stepped streamlined design with an inverted curve at the top of the structure and wrought-iron posts.
In the 1980s, Alessandro began making furniture and lighting in his woodshop in Santa Barbara, California where he was known for his Mid-Century Modernist sensibility. This pair of modern andirons is an excellent example of his work, combining a smooth polished surface with clean lines and minimal forms. The geometric simplicity and use of scale provides a striking presence without overwhelming or distracting the eye. These pieces will be an excellent and usable addition to a wide array of interior collections. Dimensions are for each.
