The Long Room at Trinity College Dublin is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and impressive libraries in the world. Built between 1712 and 1732, this nearly 210-foot-long space houses over 200,000 of the Library’s oldest books. Its most striking feature is the massive barrel-vaulted ceiling, added in 1860 to accommodate more shelving, which gives the room an almost cathedral-like atmosphere of veneration for the written word.
Richard Silver’s photograph perfectly aligns the rows of dark oak bookcases and the famous collection of marble busts that line the hall, representing the great philosophers and writers of the Western world. This print is a masterpiece of symmetry and historic gravity, making it the ultimate gift for a bibliophile or a sophisticated addition to a home library or study.
