A great pair of antique Japanese sake cups
Red lacquerware over wood with golden interior
The gold powder was applied onto the lacquered surface by using a special technique
Extremely fine floral designs hand painted over the gold; red rose on one, pink wisteria on the other
Non-centered, asymmetrical motifs in harmony with the exquisite Japanese aesthetics
Most likely made in Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture, renown for its lacquerware
Circa early 20th century, Meiji/Taisho period
Measurements: Approximately 2.5" top diameter x 1.25" high
