Crafted in France, circa 1870, the ornate pierced pediment features a scrolled foliate shell crest cartouche, flanked with leaf and floral decor on both sides; the molded frame is further embellished with decorative beads consistent with the decorative richness of the Rococo aesthetic. The Louis XV style mirror is dressed with the original encased mercury glass plate and original wood backing. The rectangular wall mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a beautiful and rich parcel gold leaf finish. New wire and hooks in the back for easy installation. Versatile, the wall decor could also be placed over a console in an entry, or in a living room over a mantel. Weight 33 pounds.
