Chinese porcelain and silver vase, Fabienne Jouvin, 19th century. XX – France
Exquisite Chinese porcelain vase decorated with a silver medallion, a work that combines the tradition of oriental porcelain with a contemporary and artisanal reinterpretation by the French artist Fabienne Jouvin. The base of the vase, made of white porcelain hand-painted in China, is a reflection of the delicacy and purity that characterizes this ancient tradition. The smooth and shiny enamelled finish is the perfect canvas for contrast with the delicate decorative silver medallion, which represents a horse among arabesques or oriental-inspired vegetal scrolls. It has a rounded and slightly expanded base, while the main body gently tapers towards the neck. The neck is high and cylindrical, topped by a bulbous mouth. This design is reminiscent of the traditional shapes of Chinese porcelain containers, such as ping or hu vases, characterized by their softness and fluidity in the transitions between the different sections. Signature and seal on the base of the piece, Fabienne Jouvin Paris.
Fabienne Jouvin (1985-)
Fabienne Jouvin, graduated from the Duperré Higher School of Applied Arts, is an artist known for reinterpreting porcelain with metallic elements and unique decorative details, redefining traditional techniques. He lives and works between Paris and Provence, although he draws inspiration from his continuous travels (Tokyo, Havana, Maldives, Thailand\.). Works with various supports: textiles, porcelain, enamels\.
This piece is an excellent example of his artistic sensibility. The incorporation of precious metals in his designs gives a contemporary aesthetic to a traditional art, making the work transcend eras and cultures.
