This painting is by the Iranian artist Mohammad Reza Sharify (1970-). The painting depicts a fanciful, fantastic horse. Sharify has studied with a number of noted Iranian masters including Mahmoud Farshchian, and I believe Farshchian’s influence is apparent in this work. It is in very good condition with no flaws to note. It is matted and framed very nicely with a linen mat and a deep gold colored wood frame that works well with the art. Sharify exhibited in the United States in the early 2000s. In December, 2001, he exhibited at the Hourian Gallery in San Francisco. This work was in that exhibition.

Mohammad Reza Sharifi was born in 1970 in Isfahan. Historical buildings and traditional spaces of Isfahan motived him to work on miniature. In art school he became interested in the works of Reza Abassy and gradually, the great artist, Mahmoud Farshchian. After graduating with honors from art school, he was accepted into the university to study art and became familiar with classic methods and experiences. Later he spent time with masters, including Farshchian. See less
