Beautiful original watercolor painting of the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia, which is part of the Hermitage museum. Painting shows wonderful architectural detail. Titled and signed by the artist in pencil and displayed in a metal frame.
The State Hermitage museum was founded in 1764 when Empress Catherine the Great acquired a collection of paintings from the Berlin merchant Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky. The neoclassical building was completed in 1787 and has been open to the public since 1852.
