It had been rolled up for years. It appears to have been cut down on the left side. Clearly a WPA Mural product. When we acquired it the dimensions were approximately 68 wide by 81 inches tall. We had it professionally stretched and approximately 3 inches were lost. It now measures 65 by 78 inches. It is not signed that we have found. It was likely a study for a large mural somewhere. There are a few different elements to the painting. There is an artist painting a girl reading, a fly fisherman in the wilderness and a group of people enjoying a production in what appears to be a theater, although that part on the left is likely gone forever.
Nevertheless it is quite a beautiful product of the WPA period.
There is quite a bit of paint loss as can be seen clearly. We have not tried to restore it in any way other than stretching it. See less
