A very rare viennese art déco ceramic figure: japanese girl with a flower-adorned page-boy hairstyle standing, wearing only an orange-red … Read more A very rare viennese art déco ceramic figure: japanese girl with a flower-adorned page-boy hairstyle standing, wearing only an orange-red cloth draped around her hips, holding a cornucopia full of colourful flowers in front of her with both hands next to her head. On an oval, arched, blue-brown marbled base with a black, star-shaped serrated plinth, the artist's signature ‘podany’ on the back of the top side. Designed by rudolf podany (1876 - 1963), who was an austrian sculptor and ceramist, was a pupil of johannes benk for one and a half years, then studied for four years at the academy of fine arts in vienna and attended the specialised school for sculpture for a further five years, worked for the schauer porcelain manufactory for ten years and from 1920 for the viennese company keramos, of which he was a commander.
