A fabulous pair of 1950s solid walnut armchairs, designed by Sylve Stenquist for Dux of Sweden. The arms feature a flat taper and joinery similar to chairs designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen for the same company.
The caned backs, which remain natural and unfinished, provide a contrast in color and texture with the frames and will age beautifully over time.
The seats are wider and deeper than your typical dining chair, and the plush 2-inch cushions make these perfect reading or lounge chairs.
The frames have been fully refinished, the backs meticulously recaned, and the seats reupholstered in a soft textured fabric that evokes the Dot Pattern by Charles & Ray Eames. As close to new as a 70 year old pair of chairs can be. Both chairs have the Dux insignia on the underside of the seat. One chair retains its original upholstery tag.
This design is still in production today under the name "Tribute" by Craft Associates.
