This Vintage Turkish Kilim, measuring at 2'8" x 3'7", is hand woven with wool on a wool foundation in the Oushak region of Turkey. Kilims & Flat Weaves are unique rugs that do not have a pile. Instead, they are created by tightly interweaving the warp and weft strands to produce a flat surface. This specific weaving technique is traditionally used on horizontal looms and results in beautifully intricate geometric designs. Compared to traditional pile rugs, kilims are lighter in weight and have a softer touch, making them useful for various purposes such as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, table covers, wall hangings, tapestries, and even insulation from extreme cold.
