Handsome hand crafted and signed repousse steel cedar lined hinged box. The box measures 12” long x 9” high. It is lined with cedar top and bottom. The artist Yves Myvtil signed the piece in the lower right corner of the front of box.
The steel sheets have been decorated using the repousse technique which is an ancient metalworking technique that uses hammers and punches to shape the malleable metal into dimensional designs. Metal gold tone decorative nails accent the outer edges of the box. Two hinges allow for easy opening and closing.
Exceptional piece of folk art.
