Offered is a 13th edition printing of the book "Wild Flowers of America: 400 Flowers in Full Color", published originally in 1953 in conjunction with the Smithsonian Museum, this edition is from 1978. Features 400 illustrations by artists Mary Vaux Walcott and Dorothy Falcon Platt, with text and editing by Harold William Rickett. Features 400 color plates from paintings by Mary Vaux Walcott showing wild flowers of North America in actual size. Some were chosen because they were hard to find, others because they were very familiar. The featured flowers are from the original portfolio from the Smithsonian Institution, which may explain why you will see people cut the flower pages out and frame them for home decor. That would be a shame since the book is a delight to leaf through with all pages and details intact, including a flower guide and index page.
The binding is a two toned green linen with a detail of lilies on the front cover.
