A period also known as the Brutalist movement, a design philosophy rooted in basic, raw, unadorned materials with a functionalist ethos. After decades of furniture manufacturing, MCF went out of business in 1997.

This extremely attractive oak cocktail table has a low profile, yet if you're like me, someone who often finds themselves more comfortable on the ground than a couch or chair, it has the perfect amount of clearance for sitting cross legged while using it. Throughout the day in my living space, whether I was working at my laptop or eating (and often both at the same time), I had plenty of space to spread out my work at the perfect height.

It is very solidly built out of oak. The legs are constructed from only two pieces of wood, (one intersected into the other), each topped with a peg onto which the round tabletop is fitted, giving it a suspended or floating appearance, perfectly providing a balanced, clean design. The underside of the table has a burnt orange protective barrier applied to protect against scuffs and stains, and also includes the original manufacturer sticker reading "MCF Modern Contract Furniture Gardner, Mass"
