Well-known painter and naturalist, Peter Darro (1917 - 1997), was trained at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. his home town. Originally known as a portrait artist, Darro segued into painting animals, and his slightly impressionistic but highly detailed and accurate studies of zebras, wild cats, antelope and other denizens of the savannas have appeared in publications such as "Illinois Wildlife" and "National Wildlife Magazine."
Darro's works have been sold at auction at least 25 times and have found their way into the public collections of many well-known corporations (e.g., The Kellogg Company, Santa Fe Railways, and Ralston Purina). Many Illinois banks also own his works, as do many museums and foundations around the country (The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History, and the National Wildlife Federation).
My parents fell for this lovely 26" H X 28 1/4" W matted and wood-framed depiction of two gentle but majestic giraffes after going on safari in East Africa in the mid-1970's. It graced their family room wall for decades, but unfortunately, I don't have wall space for it now. Here's hoping you do and will give it a good home. Enjoy!

The wood frame is also in good shape although it has small holes in it.. I suspect this is just a feature of the particular type of wood the frame is made of, but I don't know woods well enough to say for sure. less
